My parents have a 42HL167 and I love the picture on it. I'm looking to get one for my bedroom but it has been replaced by the 42RV530U. Has anyone done a direct comparison between the two, and which is better? I don't buy into the newest model always being better than the one that came before it, and I am really pleased with the 42HL167 picture. Very natural. Stilll, I have heard great things about the 42RFV530U, too.

Also- do either of these sets have a 1080p/24 input? I can't find the specification anywhere.

There are threads dedicated to both series on AVS. I happen to like both series, but the nice touch to the 530 is that you can "lock" your user settings, which is not available on the 167's I believe.

Not sure about the 1080p/24 stuff. Neither one has the Clearframe/Motionflow technology associated with 120hz if that's what you mean.

The 42RV530U does accept 1080p/24 input, not sure about the 42HL167. I have a 37HL67 and really liked Toshiba's 2007 models. In fact, I wish I had bought the 42HL167 instead of the 37HL67, but I am still happy with it. I am even happier with the 42RV530U. The upside to the 42RV530U is the 4th generation Pixelpure engine and the downside (if you choose to look at it that way) is that the RV530U has an 8 bit panel vs. the 42HL167's 10bit panel. Either way you go I am sure you will be pleased.

i have had my hl167 for almost a year now and am quite pleased with it. it does accept a 1080p/24fps input but it uses a 3:2 pulldown to convert it to 30fps. so no true 24fps out put. there aren't many sets out there that actually output 24fps anyway and the toshiba's do a pretty nice job of converting to 30 fps. if you have a nice dvd or blu-ray player you can probably set it to output at 60 fps wich the toshiba will also accept and display.
