What size picture on the 16x9 mode? With Tosh Stb hooked up to component input ,will I get bars on 480i since the Stb up converts every thing to 1080i ? Any other comments on this set? thanks for input.
This a toughie even for me, usually in a 36 inch model you get 29.5 inches of inscreen viewing in width.
The rule of thumb on standard TV sets is diagonal minus 6.5 inches, on a 16 X 9 the dimensions are 1/2 of the size of the HDTV gives your in screen height and 7/8 of the that same figure gives your in screen width. You are giving two figures I dunno, but keep your chin up http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
I've got one and I love it. The 16x9 image is roughly the equivalent of a 40 inch 16x9. I use mine with a Echostar 6000. When setup as a 4x3 without a squeeze it displays black bars, gray bars, or stretches the image to fit the screen on HD channels only. I imagine the Toshiba setop box has similar controls.
