Hey all, I just had a quick question that hopefully one of you can answer. As suggested from the topic title, I'm having an issue with my TV in which there is a noticeable tilt or slant of the picture. It seems the picture needs to be pulled up from the upper right corner to even it out. The problem is, I have no idea if this is a do-it-yourself repair, or will I have to have a tech look at it. The TV is out of warranty, so I'm really not feeling the latter option. If anyone has any advice on how I might resolve this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Please post a picture of the Tv screen with various content- regular tv channel, guide, Tv menu. Since this is a DLP any tilt adjustment will be done by physically moving the light engine or dmd, which I have never heard of doing on a Toshiba. You could make sure the light engine is fully seated and screwed down completely.

Has it always been like this?

Was it recently moved or worked on?

I only use my TV for my PS3, and I started noticing the tilt on certain games. Now that I think about it, I didn't start noticing it until the last time I moved. It's most noticeable when I'm on the PS3's built in browser. I noticed that before, but I thought it was a flaw with the browser itself. In the picture, you can see the slant at the bottom with the red bar. It dips down looking from left to right.

I guess I should've mentioned that I am a complete newbie when messing with the guts of a TV. I couldn't tell you the difference between the light engine and DMD if my life depended on it. I did take off the back where the lamp is to see if anything was loose, and nothing was from what I could tell. However, while having all of the screws off the TV, I noticed that if I shook the TV even a little bit, the image would move. If I pressed down and pulled forward on the shell of the TV a certain amount, I was able to somewhat center the picture a little more, but it bounced back when I let go. Would I have to take off the entire back of the TV and adjust something that may be behind there instead of just the bottom area where the lamp and stuff are?

Sorry for my ignorance. I searched around for a service manual of some sort to help me identify all the parts to no avail. I really don't want to go messing with something I won't be able to fix, and I am very appreciative of any and all help I have already received and might receive.

The small amount of tilt you have could be due to minor cabinet warpage. Like you say if you move the "shell of the Tv" the picture moves. But you could still take off the back and take see if the light engine is fully seated. Here is what the engine looks like-

Thanks. Would that part be sitting behind the screen, because I don't recall seeing anything like that back where I was looking, and I didn't take off the part of the TV that would show behind the screen for fear of messing something up permanently.

Quick google found HM67 Disassembly & Troubleshooting Document . It's not a very good quality copy, but you can get some info from it. You either have a slightly warped cabinet or screen assembly (no cheap or easy way to fix), a shifted main mirror (take off screen and re-seat mirror), a shifted or not fully seated light engine (remove rear cover and screw that puppy down or shim until picture is squared-up), or a shifted dmd (no cheap or easy way to fix). You could get some masking tape and create your own "perfectly squared-up" screen bezel

I didn't post any other pictures because it isn't noticeable in, say, the TV menu for instance. All I do is using this TV for my PS3, so I have no other picture references to use than the screens of my PS3. I provided the best image I could to show the faulty picture in its most noticeable form, and seeing as how this man is still able to give me information, apparently that was enough. No need to act like a jerk to me.

To hammerdwn, thanks for the link, and thanks for the different possibilities of what could be wrong with it. I'm not quite sure how to take my screen off since it seemed kind of difficult to remove when I had all the screws off. Guess I'll just wing it and see how it goes.
