I own this set, but it would help if you had some specific questions.
Generally, I am quite happy with the set. I view mostly SD programming material from my DirecTiVo, with perhaps 10% of my viewing from an interlaced DVD player through S-Video. I do not currently have any HD signals available. A progressive scan DVD player is my next purchase.
A couple of notes:
you will definitely want to do a calibration using the user controls and a DVD setup disc such as AVIA or DVE.
You will definitely want to do the 56-point manual convergence in the Service Menu
If you do not do the above (at a minimum), you could very well be unhappy with the set's performance.
Even after having done the above, much SD material from DirecTV is still somewhat fuzzy/grainy. I stepped up from an old 27" analog set, and the imperfections in the signal were not nearly as visible as with the new 51" set. (My viewing distance is about 9-10 feet with the new set, and was the same with the old set).
Will you be viewing mostly SD, DVD, or HD signals? What set are you currently using? What will be your viewing distance for the new set?
