Toshiba 62HMX84 has LANDED!

669 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  jt-kline
My 62HMX84 was delivered to my doorstep yesterday afternoon. I've posted a pic in My Photo Gallery...

I've not done a ton of critical viewing yet, but SO FAR:

SD cable channels (Comcast Cable, through component) are really not bad at all. A little grainy, but definitely watchable

HD cable channels are amazing. I watch part of the Syracuse/West Virginia game last night on ESPNHD, and the colors werer terrific, no pixalation, no audio/vido synce issues....

DVD from my old Toshiba SD2108 was pretty astounding, as well. Finding Nemo was a color feast for the eyes.

...and neither my wife, son, nor I saw a single rainbow.

(more when I can tear myself away from "playing"....)

Congratulations on your new DLP. How are you hooking your cable box up to your new Toshiba, through component or HDMI? As you've probably read, many people here were having problems with PQ using the HDMI input on their xxHM84. I'd be interested to hear how PQ compares on your set thru component vs. thru HDMI.
congrats!!! my 62hmx84 gets delivered early next week. i can't wait!

First, congrats on the new set! I have the HM version of the same set and I'm very happy.

But, I wonder why Finding Nemo is always touted as the DVD for showing off the new set? I was actually disappointed in the color banding--which I blame solely on the DVD encoding.

Two stunning movies on DVD (in the same theme): The latest Aladdin release and Monsters, Inc. I didn't notice any flaws and it really was like watching film.

Give those a shot and then compare to Finding Nemo to see what I'm talking about (not that Finding Nemo won't still look great, but it's flaws are definitely visible in comparison--that is, compared to a flawless DVD). Any time you have doubts about how amazing this set is, just put either of those two movies in...

I just got these 2 titles and I'll post my findings with them using my 52HMX84. Hopefully today or tomorrow.
I haven't gone the HDMI route yet...don't have the cables (YET!). Once I order them and they arrive, I'll post what I find.

Will have to try Aladdin and Monsters, Inc. (AFTER Lawrence of Arabia Superbit....)

More info....my son has played multiple games on his GameCube...no audio/video lags issues there either.

now...back to college football in HD!

Congratulations on your new HMX. I am ready to purchase one as well and was wondering if you could email me where you purchased it and how long it took to deliver?

Thanks
