Toshiba hd-A1 (or D1) vs. RCA HDV5000

I was just wondering if these two models are exactly the same. Seeing that the Toshiba has one of the worst remotes in history, does anybody know if the RCA will improve in that area? I assume that the "boot up" time is similar.


Any other differences between the models (other than cosmetic). Thanks!

The two models are the same except for some cosmetic differences but the RCA has a different remote.

There's a thread further down with more information or you can go to RCA's site for the full specs.

The remote may be the key issue with these two players. The Toshiba remote has been panned by everyone that has used or seen it.


If the RCA has the same innards, but a usable remote, it could be the better buy.
