Does anyone know if the "average user" can change the bulb in Toshiba's LCOS 57hlx82? I saw somewhere online that the bulb life is 8000 hours....definitely something that better be replaceable considering the cost of this set. I couldn't find anything in the posts....

Thanks

Yes, it is very user replaceable. There is a whole section in the manual about it, and they even give you an extra bulb assembly "for free" :).

jp2 replaced his just for fun, and it worked out okay for him....

Great, thanks for the info. I'm considering the toshiba over the 60" sony grand wega, but I need some more details. There isn't much info review wise on the toshiba yet.

Is burn-in a factor with the LCOS technology?

I've never been able to justify buying a multi-thousand dollar set that can be damaged if I pause a dvd to grab a beer...

One of the biggest benefits of LCOS technology is NO burn-in.

A full review of the Toshiba LCoS 57LHX82 appears in the current issue #48 of The Perfect Vision just arriving at news stands.
