i own 4x3 toshiba theaterview that has optional 16x9. i put it on my 16x9 and my picture looks much more outstanding in the dark. of course i can watch the same thing on my 4x3 and get the same picture, but the black spaces are much lighter, i was telling my friend that this was no different than the electronic masking they put of 4x3 projection screens to view a 16x9 image. technically that's what it really is.
