I would choose Hitachi based on


1) component/build quality

2) service history

3) better tweaking support on this forum


Toshiba has a better stretch mode for 480i...Hitachi 46W500 has improved stretch that matches the Toshiba mode.

One of my main concerns is this..


I'd like to be able to use the DVI port and connect my pc to it.


I'd like the font/words to be legible on the screen - to use it for surfing, when not used as an htpc.


i saw them side by side at an electronics store.. unfortunately they were using a poor feed... a dvd of the newest 007, with what appeared to be bad cables/connection or something.. plus 007 has so many touch ups in it.
