Towers that are detailed at low volumes

What are good speakers under $5000 that are enjoyable at low-mid volumes and provide lots of detail? And what should I look for when reading reviews, ones that have a forward presentation?

If I were in the market I would be checking out these speakers (though a little more than the budget you have allocated):

Look through these measurements to at least eliminate speakers with a pronounced drop off above 10khz or a droopy midrange.

The problem with perceived lack of detail at low volumes is inerhently a human hearing issue, not a speaker issue per se, so I'm not sure there is a speaker out there that can fix your hearing for you. This is why functions like "loudness" and "dynamic EQ" exist in receivers.

*used to exist in receivers

Don't know why this was taken away from us, yet here we are with amps, preamps and integrated amps that don't even have tone controls anymore.
