This might be an unusual question but is it possible to transport a Plasma TV standing like this...

instead of...

Sorry for the weird desciption, English is not my native language and I didn't know how to explain it in words. Anyway, the TV would still be upright and not lying flat on the ground.

I'd guess it would be OK. The main reason for transporting them on edge is that glass is much stronger on edge than it is flat.

Thanks, that's what I thought too. I have to get it onto a skid and if I try it standing on the 50" width side it will only fit diagonally. Standing on the 30" height side, I could even pack some boxes on the same skid...

Just be conscience of which end you stand it on. The stand that shipped with my TV (Samsung 50B650) wasn't necessarily snug inside the package and could have easily bumped into the TV if mishandled. Also keep in mind that the protection wasn't designed for shipping on end, though you may not have any issues doing so.

The stand shipped with my Panasonic was even taped inside, no way it could have moved on its own...
