The unit is reporting the tray open, though it is closed. Is this a known issue with these units? A Crutchfield reviewer stated that there were a number of tray issues with the 2007 model, but I can't find any info on this particular claim.

Is there a "Yamaha DVD forum" of sorts where I might have better luck hitting on someone who has the problem and has managed to fix it?

Any chance Yamaha will make good and fix the unit? It is a few months out of warranty.

I have this exact player. It did this exact thing to me last night. I had to unplug it from the wall (don't just turn it off), and wait a second or two, then plug it back in. Fixed it.

This unit has driven me nuts since day one. You will push the "open" button, and it will display "open" and sit there for a good 60 seconds before opening.

I am on here tonight to see if I can find out why if I tell the DVD player that I have a Subwoofer, then it just will NOT send ANY bass to my main Polk towers. I can tell it I have big fronts, and makes no difference. GRrrrrrrrr. Anyway, I thought I would respond to this thread to help someone down the road with the whole "open" thing....Maybe in another thread someone will have told someone else how to get bass from the mains while you have a sub!
