Trends in rebates/price reductions in the weeks leading up to CEDIA?

i was considering a projector upgrade this year, and if the bulb on my current pj holds out long enough, i hope to make it till late Oct.


that is, unless it may be more advantageous to be ready in july/aug.

i remember when i bought my HT1K, NEC was running a pretty good rebate program in the months before CEDIA. I was holding out for news of something that never came, so i had to scramble after the show to get an order in before the rebate offer was up. after that it seemed like it was a good several months before any other substantial deals or price drops were had-


so i guess my question is- has anyone noticed a trend as to good seasons or windows to buy? 1080p is not going to be a realistic goal for me at the moment- however, i am curious as to how they will further impact the prices of the 720ps- and maybe even more importantly- if the 720ps that are good quality now, will get 'dumbed down' in the future models (lose features or have quality components replaced with lesser ones) to justify their lower price points?


the latter really has me wondering if i should buy sooner rather than later
