Try setting the DVD player to progressive-I know, makes no sense, but many upscaling DVD players require this, even though they are outputing an interlaced signal (1080i).
That said, you'd probably be better off outputting 576p or 720p to this pj. I had one at work and its deinterlacer was its weak point.
