Hi there!

I am in the process of buying a new projector as the old

one is all worn out. I want a true 16:9 projector, as the

Sony VPL-VW10HT or the Sanyo PLV-60HT, which are

both very good projectors.

My problem is that the Sony has a too short throw lens and

the Sanyo makes too much noise.

Is the any other true 16:9 projectors out there? Is there

any new models coming soon?

Any and all information is appreciated!

Following projectors should be out soon:

-Sharp XV-9000U DLP

-Sony VW11HT LCD

-Seleco HT300 DLP

-some Marantz model DLP

Do a search on these projectors, you should get some information on the Sony and Sharp. The Seleco hasn't been announced yet officially, so there isn't much information as of now.Seleco should be very good though. Faroudja scaler, quiet, contrast 1000:1.......

It seems as if the two main contenders are the Sharp and the Seleco. Prices will be around 10-14k (my guess).

Cheers

The Seleco 200DM is also a "true" 16x9 projector in that it uses the 16x9 480 vertical window area essentially consideres the remaining vertical area on the chip to be "dead" when in 16x9 mode... It can windowbox 4x3 material in this 16x9 area and "zoom" 4x3 lbxed material and do everything just a like a projector with a literal 16x9 chip.

It's essentially acting like a @800 x 480 SD-resolution 16x9 chip.

The Plus Piano uses a 848x600 DMD in the same manner as the Seleco 200DM (i.e. native 480p).

It is also rated at 32db. I saw it in Tokyo last week and it is amazingly small and quiet. The picture was decent even though the environment was not the greatest. Fill ratio seemed really good.

The brochure I picked up also says it has a 4x RGB color wheel. I didn't see any rainbows, but I'm not prone to that either.

That's all the info I've got on that one.

The Marantz models are supposed to be:

VP-12si

VP-14si

(they are supposed to contain the Sage FLI2200 chipset)

CEDIA should create a fresh round of press releases.
