I am about to buy a philips blue ray player.

But have a question.

As i can see the BDP5000 has no DTS HD encoder, while the 7300 has.

now, i have an Harman Kardon AVR 355 with support for True HD and DST HD.

Do i need to have a blue ray player with an encoder?

Regards

Thank you for your reply.

the 5000 shows :

build in decoders : Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby trueHD, DTS

7000:

build in decoders : Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby trueHD, DTS, DTS HD

So the 5000 will give me DTS-HD also when i use bitstream?

yes. the blu-ray decoder has nothing to do with it. your h/k will take the audio stream out of the HDMI stream and decode it for you. the blu-ray decoder only matters if you are using the analog outputs of the player.
