Hey folks... I've been saving for a while, and researching for a while as well.
I had originally (last fall...) decided on the Onkyo 6100 HTiB. I've now got most of the cash in the bank I need to buy a new HDTV and HTiB (along with furniture, wires, etc.).
Here is what my set up will look like once everything is delivered:
TV: Panasonic 50 inch G10
Gaming: Xbox 360, and Wii
DVD: Xbox 360
Receiver: ? (probably the 6100...)
Cable Box; What every comcast hands me... (I hope to upgrade to a Tru2Way Tivo box once it is released)
Blu-Ray: Probably 12 months out.
The reality is that I don't have enough space in my home theater area to effectively set up the 7.1 speakers.
I am also concerned that having the Receiver do "all" the work will cause input lag when playing either rhythm games, or FPS's on my 360.
Lastly, I'm not sure that I want to have to power the Receiver every time we use the system (i.e. when the kids are playing with the Wii, or just watching network TV).
SO: While trying to maintain the ability to have the higher end sound when I do get Blu-Ray in 12 month, and higher end sound for my 360 and gaming, what do you folks suggest? Money does matter... I was hoping to spend $500 on a HTiB, ut even the 6100 pushes this budget. Any money I save gets me into Blu-Ray a bit sooner.
Thoughts?
