If $1300 is your max budget, your main choices are a 48" LG CX, a 55" LG A1, a 55" LG BX, or a 55" Vizio (I would avoid the Vizio). Check out the Best Buy website (there are current sales on these). Of course, an LCD will cost you less.
Thank you, BillP. I appreciate you taking a minute to respond. Unfortunately the LG A1 is their new OLED with only a 60Hz panel, and has similar price of a LG BX or CX with a 120Hz panel. 120Hz panels can display a 24fps video source without judder since its 5*24, while a 60Hz panel will have to induce judder to display a 24fps source at 60fps (2.5x)Thank you, BillP. The Best Buy website has a great price on an open-box 55" A9G and 55" A8H, although it probably depends on your location.Sony had a huge discount on their 2020 OLED model A8H back on Prime Day, might keep a look out for any more discount price on that before it sells out.
I've had several off both models. The A9G's had slightly cleaner panels with far less grid while the A8H has brighter highlights and noticeable grid. The Best Buy website has a great price on an open-box 55" A9G and 55" A8H, although it probably depends on your location.
Dude, you own an A80J, so you clearly know what a Sony costs. He was quite clear that his budget is well below those. Like, you suggested a 65-inch TV. He said his 50-inch just bit the dust and he doesn’t need much more than a 55”.Sony A80J or the cream of the crop A90J. LG OLED only if you into gaming. Sony A80J 65 inch is Sony A80C under Costco brand
I’m glad you pointed this out for him.Unfortunately the LG A1 is their new OLED with only a 60Hz panel, and has similar price of a LG BX or CX with a 120Hz panel. 120Hz panels can display a 24fps video source without judder since its 5*24, while a 60Hz panel will have to induce judder to display a 24fps source at 60fps (2.5x)

The LG A1 would be a nice offering if it was a lot lower price, but here its too close in price to the better 120Hz OLED panels - not enough cost difference to lose all that. Also you could have a high end FALD LED 120Hz TV for less than the A1 60Hz. Its kinda stuck in no man's land between them.I’m glad you pointed this out for him.
I think the LG A1 is so strange. I get the idea of stripping the gaming features away to offer a cheaper OLED. The processor is older, so keep the price lower. The picture quality isn’t as great, but that’s ok, the price goes lower. But then they offer the 60Hz panel. Doesn’t make sense. The TV is supposed to be for non-gamers, and therefore it’s for people who just want a decent OLED without the bells and whistles who want to enjoy movies and TV. But no 120Hz panel. Just doesn’t make sense. So now the TV doesn’t appeal to gamers, movie watchers or TV watchers. In that case, for whatever secondary purpose they want this TV for, why would someone want a relatively cheap OLED, when it is relatively expensive compared to mid-range LED’s that will most likely serve the same purpose just as well? The LG A1 just doesn’t make sense.
Yeap. If the LG A1 had a 120Hz panel, it would be good OLED to watch movies and TV, with a decent picture at a relatively lower price compared to other OLEDs.The LG A1 would be a nice offering if it was a lot lower price, but here its too close in price to the better 120Hz OLED panels - not enough cost difference to lose all that. The Vizio is the discount OLED leader price and it has the full 120Hz LG panel.Yeap. If the LG A1 had a 120Hz panel, it would be good OLED to watch movies and TV, with a decent picture at a relatively lower price compared to other OLEDs.

Did you read what he typed? Or just the title of this thread?
They put the 55 or 65" Vizio on sale at least once a month. Got my 55" for $899 and the 65" for $1499.The Vizio is the discount OLED leader price and it has the full 120Hz LG panel.
LG A1 should have a hard time competing against them.
Same list price too for the 55": just under that $1300 spot, though I recall the Vizio 55" got discounted to $999 a couple months back, so watch for that again.
Wow - those are incredible sale prices on the Vizio OLEDs!They put the 55 or 65" Vizio on sale at least once a month. Got my 55" for $899 and the 65" for $1499.
