Hi just hunting "still" for my first big screen tv. My living room is fairly small about 15' long x 12' wide x 8' high, and is pretty dark with maroon paint. Any opinions on tv's for a room of this nature taking into consideration the room is pretty dark most of the time (i'm nocturnal)? The tv will be used for in this order....Dvd playback, Satilite TV (HD included), and Xbox 360 Elite gaming. I've been considering the Samsung HLT 6176, Sony 55" 2020, or possibly an LCD like a Sharp or Sammy. The big problem I have is I live in a small town and only pretty much bring these tv's in for special orders, so I can't sit there and test them for myself.

How far are you going to sit from the TV? That should factor into the size. Dark rooms are good for all the big screen tvs. Check in the gaming forum as some types of displays are better for gaming than others.

well i'm planning on around 8-10' straight on, and prolly about 6-7' kinda angled seeing as how I got a couch and loveseat which will be kinda "L" together.

10' sounds fine for either size you mentioned. Depending on how far the angled viewing will be you can loose some picture clarity as you move away from the straight view.


Again, I strongly suggest checking about the gaming as some tvs are recommended much more than others for the fast moving action and response times. Lots of info if you scroll to your tv models in this forum or go to the forum here:
