I have purchased a Panasonic PHD5U from Dell and I am waiting for it to ship. In the meantime, I have a problem concerning closed captioning. Since I don't think the plasma can decode the CC I was looking for a workaround. One of the sources for TV will be a DirecTivo via S-video. I found this device called TV Guardian which will do what I want ( decode closed captioning). It connects via a special cable: Male S to 2 Male RCA or via this cable S-Video Cable for TVGuardian . Not understanding the technical aspects of these cables, I did find some technical notes here . I would most appreciate if someone can look at these cables and tell me how much Picture Quality Degradation I can expect if I use these cables to connect to the TV Guardian device. Am I crazy to buy this beautiful display and then ruin it with this wacky device? Thanks. Much appreciate all the info here.
