I have a Toshiba TV with a 720p, 1080i panel . Yet features in manual say it will accept 1080p/ 24 hz input signal through HDMI . Which means I should set my HD DVD player resolution up to to 1080p /24 or up to 720 p, or 1080 i ?
There are only two LCD panel resolutions, 768x1366 (720p) and 1080x1920 (1080p). Both are progressive scan. All signals connected to your TV or coming from the tuner are converted to the panels native resolution of 768x1366 and made progressive. Therefore no matter which setting you chose the TV will convert it to 768px1366. Try each setting and decide which looks better to you.
