Hi everyone.

I'm planning on buying an LG OLED and soundbar soon and wondered which is better.
I personally would like to run native apps on the Webos but wonder if there's any difference in video/audio quality.
I just like the idea of one less device in the mix using the LG for all my streaming.
For reference, I watch Hulu, Prime, Netflix and Youtube.
Thanks.

I'm certainly not an expert, others might chime in to help.
From what I can see, the TV doesn't handle the heavy work that well, at least compared to other streaming devices.
I got a Sammy Q6 TV, I rarely use any built-in app for streaming (except Youtube when I screaming karaoke)
Another key point why I am not using it, the audio wise.
I refuse to watch my own MKV if I cannot get audio passthru. That's the reason why I got the Nvidia Shield TV.

I don't know about your new LG OLED TV, maybe it's powerful enough.
Check if it has HDMI 2.1 which technically able to send lossless audio signal via ARC.
Make sure your AVR is HDMI 2.1 capable as well.
Pair them together and see what the end result (video and audio) is.

I'll echo the above. I use Apple TVs on my 1080p displays and on my LG OLED. I use an NVIDIA Shield in my home theater.

I have a kind of weird take on this. I was using an Nvidia Sheild with my Samsung JS. I use an HDHomerun Prime and Connect. I bought a Sony 85X900F and since the Sony has Android TV, I no longer needed the Shield. The Samsung JS and Shield were migrated to bedroom.

Nice thing about running apps natively you don't have extra colorspace and resolution conversions. Watching live and cable TV are noticeably improved.

On a similar note regarding the Shield, is there any advantage running a Yamaha WXC-50 or Bluesound Node for streaming music from Spotify, Tidal, etc. instead of the app on the Shield or the TV?
Assuming that it's not for multi room.
