So I'm about to close on this house and the tv niche is too small for my 60 Panasonic
The 2x4 that I have the arrow pointed to is too small to attach mount to. I'm not very handy so I wanted to try a simple fix and was wondering what you guys thought. My initial thought is to just attach a 2x8 on top on it (the 2x4 is slightly recessed so it should fit well) then just paint it in case I ever extend the mount of rotate it. And then just attach the tv to that. Maybe drywall the rest of the opening below the tv would not cover. That way I could still pull tv out and easily get to wires. So do you think that the 2x8 attached to 2x4 then maybe screwed diaganoly into the wall would be secure enough for 100 lbs or so?
Like I said l, I'm not very great at this stuff and this may be a terrible idea but I can't think of any easier fix. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Thanks
Pete
