I am not getting what's between the lines here.

Why is sending a plasma screen native 720p, 1080, etc, so important if it has an internal scaler? Are most internal plasma scalers part of an analog chain, or, conversely, do all DVI/HDMI DVD players upscale in the digital domain?

Lastly, in the "DVI, HDMI and HDCP – a Practical Guide"

thread, http://www.digiupdate.com/G002_DVI_H...l#_Toc62776215 DigiUpdate.com strongly recomends native horizontal AND VERTICAL native signals, such as the conventional 1290 X 720p, be the only ones purchased in digital TV's.

How are all of the 1024, 768...(insert non-1290X720 specs here)... affected? I'm talking about most HD Plasmas, here.

Takers?
