TVA Experience

First I want to say what an informative forum this is. It served as a big help in making my decision.

I was going to buy the Panny TH42PX50U but I couldn't resist the Toshiba 42HP95 and the info I received on this forum helped me make my decision. The exrta options sold me on the Toshiba.

I ordered it through TV Authority. The price was great!! Plus I saved an additional 5% by using their credit card. I saved over $650 then what Best Buy wanted. At first I was apprehensive dealing with a online company, for such a big purchase, but the sales people were very helpful and pleasant. I haven't received it yet but it is promised for the middle of next week. I will update the rest of the experience with TVA as it unfolds.

I can't get the IR pass-thru to work correctly.

I've got my cable box with the IR blaster in the attic.

I can not control it with it's own remote.

I programmed the theater-net and I can control the cable box a little with the Toshiba remote.

I need to use the cable box remote so I can get the DVR functions.

I've connected the TV to my computer using a 75' VGA and RCA cable and that is working great.

This set is awesome.

Thanks in Advance.

Wasn't there a recent thread about a BAD TVA experience? What ever happened to that thread? Was the situation ever solved?

Are the forum moderators screening the TVA reviews because TVA is a forum sponsor? Delete the negative ones and leave the positive ones?
No, the other bad thread was more of a vindictive thread without proof of what was happening.

The mods here are honest and do not screen based upon sponsership. The owner of this whole forum posted last week that he would, as he has done in the past, refund sponsership money if things were shadey.

TVA had some growing problems a few months ago, but it seems like they fixed everything and hired additional stuf.

idiot posts like this are what the mods should be removing.

The second last thread from the customer was that the owner had contacted him and would wire the money directly to him.

Then a third thread popped up from the customer but was moved to some inaccessible forum, so I can only assume the worst.

IMO, it doesn't bode well for all parties involved. I would think one would want full disclosure to show that no one is hiding anything. I mean, if TVA is in the right, I'm sure the community would understand when there is an unreasonable customer involved.

Well I placed my order on Wednesday 12/14. They did tell me that it would take two days to clear my credit since I applied for their credit card (for the 5% discount). I went with the 3 to 5 day delivery ($15 extra). So far my order has not shipped. It's only been processed.

I went to their web site and clicked on the "Chat". The customer service rep said that it will be here by Friday. Fair enough, but I don't see how it can make it to Pennsylvania from California by Friday.

I'll update as things progress.

Sir:

You are entitled to have your opinion just like everyone else. However, to label my thread as "bad" and "vindictive" is ridiculous. You stated that the thread was posted without proof. What proof would you like? Should I have posted the letter from the bank and the photocopy of the returned check? TVA responded publicly to my post on this very forum and there was no denial on their part. In a private e-mail they explained that they had placed a stop payment on the check due to "mis-communication" on their part which I dutifully reported here.

Note: the mods did not delete my thread/posts because I had posted anything that was not true (nor "bad" or "vindictive" for that matter). The mods quashed the thread because they believe that this is a "private customer service issue" and has no place on this forum. I respectfully disagreed with this and asked them to reconsider. My request was denied.

I do not believe that the mods have done anything inappropriate (i.e. that they are protecting a forum sponsor from negative comments). However, their actions have the appearance of impropriety which is exactly why the thread should not have been deleted. I believe that the integrity of the forum would be better served without censorship or editing of negative posts relating to vendors (sponsors or not).

Finally, I can report that $3K was credited to my account last night and TVA has offered to pay back all bank charges incurred.

I am glad you posted a follow-up, especially to clear the air. Hope things work out for you.

Thanks for the followup Jesse. I agree with your assessment of the situation with the posts. When your thread disappeared, it was natural to assume the worst about TVA and I think deleting it was a bad decision on the part of the moderators.

Jesse,

Very well said! And I agree 100% with the importance of the appearance of impropriety being as important as inpropriety itself. It appears wrong to allow a poster who's true identity is not known to post about a "great" buying experience and yet dwlet the post of another person, again whose true identity is not known, who is identifying the bad experience.

It's a shame the vendor involved didn't weigh in here and address assjack1's off base comments. Makes me wonder if there is an assjack2

I am glad to hear it all got worked out.

John
Wow, I am really surprised they haven't closed this thread by now, I guess the good remarks about TVA are working to keep it alive. I'm sure any negative comments will get it shut down right away.

I'm not the only member that noticed what was happening with the thread closures.

Off base? Listen SaltiDawg - in the deleted threads the mods asked for proof of the accusations. The mods said none were received and the thread was closed. And just in case you forgot to read the deleted thread, I actually supported Jesse and what he posted. Furthermore, Salti, since your memory is weak - the owner of this board said that he was closing the thread because it did not deserve to be here and that it was of a personal nature. This implied a malicous behaivior. Here in this thread Jesse cleared thngs up and I acknowledged him.

Also, go read the Experiences of TVA thread and see what I have to say about the company. Get your facts right before replying.

For the record... the thread was closed before I could post a response which lead to my posting the now infamous "Part 3" immediately deleted thread.

Well I called TVA today to find out when the TV would ship, as it was suppossed to be here by tomorrow and as of yet hasn't even shipped yet. They told me it was being shipped from North Carolina and they would call me by the end of the day to let me know whether it shipped or not. They never called.

It's been a week and no sign of a TV, even though I paid the few extra bucks to have it in 3 to 5 days. My patience is wearing thin.

By the way, as I said in my first post, I am only posting my experiance with TVA so others can make their decision on what online company to use. I researched TVA on this forum, before I used them, and I thought it is only fair that I provide others with another view point to help them make a educated decision. Good or bad I am posting my experience.

I hope TVA goes out of business. They're a buncha punks, and their feet stink.
This is why these posts get locked.

Click on his name, then view all his posts. His remarks have nothing to do with TVA, rather it's all about his teenage angst.
