TVs with Full Pixel/Unscaled/Dot By Dot

Is there some way to find out which TVs have this feature? I have lived with the WORST overscan with my Sony KV-HS420, and when I upgraded to a Philips 47PFL3603D and discovered it's 'Unscaled' option, I was in heaven. But alas, it was hit by lightning and I might be forced to replace it.

So, looking at my options, I see a lot of TVs I like, but can't figure out what ones feature this option. Among the TVs I am looking at, the one I know does is the Sony KDL46S5100, because my friend has it and I went over to his house to size it up. But I am thinking of maybe going bigger, and more Hertz. So I am also considering:

Vizio 55" VF550M

Vizio 47" SV470M

Sharp 52" LC52SB57UN

Sharp 46" LC46SB57UN

Maybe the answer is simply "No, none of these have a dot by dot option", but I'd figured I would ask. Is there some kind of project keeping track of models that feature this or something, that I can refer to?

Most industrial panels have this feature. If you have a cable or sat box these will be fine. Some of the Runco units have this feature
Not sure about the Sharps, but the Vizios you talked about does have 1:1 option

It only happens in 1080i/p input though.
Yeah, the Philips only did it with 1080, as well. But virtually everything I watch is in 1080. Upscaled DVDs, BDs, and I have my cable box/DVR set to 1080i only, so even SD content is upscaled to 1080.

Thanks for the info, though. Maybe I will go Vizio...it looks good, but I am unsure of the longevity of the Vizio brand. There's always the big Sony, but then I am worried about black crush (which it appears to maybe have, and my 34" certainly does, seeing it going on right now since I am using it as a replacement set until I get a new one).
The Toshiba 650 series offers what your looking for also
Probably most panels have it these days, My trusty Samsung 81F has it.
Samsung 9 Series also has it, called "Just Scan".
I am close to pulling the trigger on the VF550M, but I have thus been unable to actually confirm that it has a 1:1 option. All the databases and stuff for TVs online don't seem to list this feature as an option for any TVs. I emailed Vizio tech support, haven't heard back yet. I tried to get the remote for the display model in-store, but they said they couldn't find it (likely story).

I don't suppose anybody actually has this model and can confirm having used this? I can't deal with any more chopped off heads or shaved-off GUIs.

(If I hear back from Vizio, I will report back with my findings)
i have the vizio vl420m which is similar to the Vizio 47" SV470M you listed and i have no over scan. the component inputs have auto phase which will auto adjust the screen for you, and hdmi has no overscan for my set. but if there was overscan they have options on the screen to shrink or move the picture around till there is no overscan. all newer vizios should be the same since they all pretty much use the same user interface.
They only pixel map 1080 signals? That doesn't seem usefull... I like when any signal can be displayed as native - that way you can compare the smaller image to the scaled one and see if the set is introducing any artifacts during the scaling of 720 or 480 sources. I wouldn't actually watch the signal un-scaled, I just like the ability to do it.

(It might come in handy for hooking up computers that won't output 1920x1080 - then you could see the signal native and not worry about distortion from scaling...)

AFAIK most sets don't offer a small picture with pixel mapping surrounded by big black borders. Probably because only a very small minority of customers would find that useful - in fact I've seen many people zooming up 4:3 images to 16:9 format to "fill the screen" thus distorting the image!

However, most modern graphics cards should support this feature via their drivers. At least Nvidia, ATI/AMD and Intel do offer this feature in their drivers (may depend on the operating system).

I think impatience might be overpowering prudence at this point, as I am increasingly getting the urge to just take the plunge and hope all works out for the best.

Here is an example of what I am trying to avoid. Here is a screencap from a not-that-well-composed shot in Stargate: The Ark of Truth, capped from the DVD:

And here is what I saw on my 34" Sony when first watching the movie upon having purchased it (approximated):

Furthermore, this article makes a very good case for why we shouldn't put up with this...

I have a Sharp 52D85U and it has dot by dot mode for 720p (scaled) and 1080p. The issue I run into is with my Asus laptop. I can't get it to display 1080p for more than a few seconds. A few posters did download Powerstrip and were able to use a custom timing to get it to display. I would use VGA, but it maxes out at 1600x1200 on this set.
I went to the store and used the buttons on the side panel to play with the settings. I found controls for position and size, but only the position controls were usable. I thought maybe it only works on certain inputs, but I googled 'VF550M size position' and found the manual (which I searched for before and didn't find)

http://www.vizio.com/assets/0/92/440...05982250df.pdf

The manual says the controls are only usable when a PC is connected to the PC (I assume they mean "only over VGA'), yet it's a big fat lie since I was able to move the image around! Also, the manual does not mention a Full Pixel mode, and when I flipped through the modes in-store, it didn't have it, either.
