Hi all,

I'm new to this site. I'm thinking about buying one the Toshiba 56ers. Right now the 56X81 can be had for a substantial price difference compared to the 56H80. Can someone help me by pointing out the differences between both sets?

All I remember from last year's release of the 56H80 was that it has a better line doubler. I plan to use an HTPC in the near future to feed it progressive DVD and some HDTV so a crappy line doubled cable signal isn't important to me.

Or should I wait a few weeks for the announcement of the new sets of the fall lineup?

Confused. Thanks for any help!

Both would stink for HTPC use. Toshiba sets don't have RGB input, and you sacrifice picture quality if you use a RGB to component transcoder.

This is the kind of information I was looking for.

Thanks.

Aren't most HDTV-ready sets equiped with component inputs?

Can you recommend a good RPTV for HTPC use? ($3K range)
