I have been watching some HD on the 9 channels we recieve in Houston from Time Warner Cable and noticed none of the programs are being shown with AC3 5.1 sound.

The showing of Shrek as reported by forum members from all over the country was in 5.1 but not in Houston.

Is it me (my system) or is it that cable companies in different cities decide how they will make a showing. Any comments from members in Houston, I live in the memorial area.

Thanks in advance for any comments,

Ash

I've been receiving 5.1 since the first day I had the HD box installed. It is only available on some of the channels - like for instance you can get 5.1 on 313 (abc) and 460, 461 (hbo), but not 311 (cbs) which doesn't transmit multichannel (network decision). If you are not getting 5.1, check to make sure that your HD box is connected to your receiver correctly. The coaxial out on the digital cable box will NOT give you 5.1, only the coaxial output from the HD-200 box will (and only on the channels that support it).

Hope this helps,
