Hi. I recently became interested in either adding external storage to my SA8300HD or copying shows off the unit. I asked TWC here in Southern California they said that they had no boxes with activated ports. When I pressed them about the FCC regulations, they offered a no-PVR SA3250HD with activated ports. Before I raise any more of a stink, I'd like to get my facts in order as well and know my options.
1. Is TWC obligated to provide me with a PVR with activated firewire ports, or is the fact that have any STB with activated ports good enough for the FCC.
2. What other options do I have to record shows? I was thinking that I should bite the bullet and get a Tivo Series3 and CableCARD.
Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
