TX-SR504 Onkyo or SaXr55 Panny?? Please help

I don't need all the fancy Bells and whistles or Hdmi at this point. I have some infinite Surround speakers. They are Satelite speakers. What kind, I don't know. Anyways I will be putting this in a room 12 deep by 16 wide....I am looking for mainly sound for stereo listening and movie surround in 5.1...I will not hook up anything but a dvd player. I watch tv in regular sound. I was wondering what would be the best bang for my buck.

I have a CRT 26" HD Panny 480p or 1080i But in a couple of months will upgrade tv's...Thanks for the help everyone

To ask another question maybe a better way..

What is the best receiver under 300.00???? My Panny tv has Hdmi but don't need it.. Instead of listing 2 to choose from I think this is better. I have Infinite Minuette satellite surrounds.. So out of all your experiences, What is the best receiver Sub 300.00
