I just ordered the HDMI blade for my 50PHD8UK, but it's on a short backorder. In the meantime I've been trying to read more and more about it, and it seems there isn't much (if any) advantage to using it vs. component cables. I have a Dish Network HD receiver and a PS3 hooked up currently via component. Will there be any real advantage to using the HDMI from the PS3 and/or HD Satellite receiver? It seems like everything I'm reading says the components are every bit as good as the HDMI, and the only thing the HDMI supports is the upscalling ability of the PS3. Is that even worth bothering with?

Any real-world experience with this, please let me know what you think.

short answer....no, there would be little, if any noticeable difference based on what you describe

I run both component video and HDMI feeds through matrix switchers to various displays and would be hard pressed to see the difference for resolutions of 1080i and lower

others may disagree...
