I have the following setup:
SPARKLE GeForce 8400 GS 256MB 64-bit DDR2 PCI-E x16 HDCP Ready -> VGA cord -> Hanns-G HG-216DPB 21.6" Widescreen LCD Monitor
I get video but forced to 1280x720 and stretched. Once Ubuntu 9.10 loads I can go to the Nvidia settings manager and there I find that it is not detecting my monitor as Hanns-G but is detecting it as a generic CRT. Because of this I cannot increase the resolution beyond 1280x720.
With DVI -> HDMI connection from my video card I can get up to 1680x1050. However, I have a hardware issue with the DVI port on my video card that seems to not affect the VGA port.
I discussed that issue in this thread:

I'd like to be able to fix the likely Ubuntu-related problem and get my resolution back to normal.
Let me know if there are log files etc, you need me to pull.
Thanks in advance.
