If I buy a a Samsung UE40KU6400 UHD Tv and the UBDK8500 Blu Ray player how can I record tv shows and series to play back in UHD. UHD Blu Ray recorders do not seem to be produced.
You can't right now. You can get 4k capture cards and HDCP strippers and capture to hard drive. But that's all. You can't take that video and burn a UHD bd yet - PC players don't yet exist, never mind software to author a UHD bd. Or drives capable of playback.
Well you can burn a bdxl disc with those files to avoid filling your hard drive
Is there any indication when UHD-R and PC drives will be shipping? This seems a lot slower release schedule than Blu ray/HD DVD as there were recordable discs at launch. I haven't found any info at all.
Though, UHD bd physically is a modified bdxl standard, so chances are a UHD-r is just a bdxl disc. After all bdxl is 33gb/layer which UHD-bd is based on (current uhd bd is dual layer so 66gb total).
As for PC software, given the biggest software player out there isn't supporting it this year, it likely will be next year at the earliest.
