My projector (a Sanyo PLV-Z3) seems to emit considerable UV light, as evidenced by some fluorescent paper nearby glowing.

Meanwhile I read reports of discolored (bleached?) polarizing filters in LCD projectors.

Has anyone tried putting a UV absorbing filter inside, between the lamp and the rest of the projector optics, to prolong the life of the rest of the optics? At least with the 'Z3 there is a recess at the lamp front lens where such a filter might fit.

Or would such a filter cause an imbalance in heat dissipation resulting in more problems?

Or would the act of absorbing the UV result in heat buildup at the place the filter is situated?
