I have spent three hours or so on line with Directv and I can not get HD Showtime. I have gone over the following facts with half a dozen polite, helpful and usually pretty clueless people: I receive the following without problem: 100, 400, 90. I get good readings on A,B & C, transponders 8, 10 & 12 on C coming in fine. I get other HD, 509 and 199. I have Showtime HD code in place, according to the DTV people. I have a brand new series four card, the supposed cure for my problem.

The next to last person suggested that I contract to have someone come out and check my wiring. There is no problem with the wiring and I don't know an installer that has enough knowledge and experience to look into these things.

THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING. I AM GETTING TIRED OF TELLING THE SAME THING TO A SERIES OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE LESS INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAN EVEN THE VERY LITTLE I HAVE. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA? I WOULD APPRECIATE THE HELP. Art

Bill,

No kidding, BiLL. While I appreciate a good old "ain't it awful" as much as anyone else your response is as off topic as it could be. With all respect I feel as if I have just phoned Directv again.

PLEASE, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION? Art

Well what are you seeing now on 543 Art? Call ext. 721 to order.. or searching for satellite signal..or nothing at all, or?

Not sure if this will help, but two suggestions of things to try (if you haven't already):

Do a power-off reset (i.e., unplug the unit, wait a minute, then plug it back in and let it re-acquire the guide data).

Try a different port from you mulitswitch.

Dan,

Thanks. I get the SHOH banner for a few seconds and then just a black screen. The SHOH sppears in the guide with the name of the movies but will not load information about a particular show. I have tried all manner of resets. Art

Hmmm. Now you have a DTC-100 right? You didnt say that in this thread but I think I saw you say it somewhere else. I dont know anything about that particular unit really, but I think I read elsewhere about somebody with one of those that while in his signal screens it showed a signal on transponders 8, 10, and 12, the person still had to go somewhere else in the menus and actually change an entry to 3 Sat configuration (or something like that), and said that it had been so long since he played in that area of the menu, he forgot all about it.

I'm sure thats nothing appreciative though if you said you are seeing what you're supposed to be seeing on channel 90, which also comes off 110.

Art,

OK so you have the channel in the guide and your able to tune it. But all you get is the banner? See if your able to get info. If not your combiner may be wacky. Also make sure you have a true 110 spec LNB.

Art, we have had a similar problem with 543. D* is no help. We have narrowed the problem down to our DST3000 or the actual Sat-C Kit. We have a non-hd receiver and it is receiving all transponders. The DST3K, however, picks-up and then drops transponders. Our problem is that 543 stops working every day in the afternoon and then after being off all night, comes back in the morning. I am still working on the problem and if I find out anything I will post it.

What exactly are we supposed to be seeing on 100, 400, 90? I got the sat C installed. Went into my DTC-100 and changed to 3 sat configuration, got the transponders 8,10,12 working and when I turn to channel 90, I get a blank screen that says Triple-Sat Installation Check. on 100, I get the preview channel, and on 400 I get the Para Todos channel. Is that correct?

543 tells me I have to order the channel, but the banner says SHOHD. I didn't order Showtime yet so that's not a problem.

Thanks!

I am sorry that I don't have an answer but instead I have my own problem.

I have a DTC-100 and have the SAT C installed, and the menu set to 3 LNB dish. I can see 543 SHO-HD in the guide, but when I select it, the message says that it is looking for data from the satellite.

The following have all been tried: resetting the plugs; power cycle on the DTC-100; checking the transponders and strengths (the 100 satellite does not show up).

D* led me through a series of efforts to fix it and finally recommended that I hire someone. I have yet to take this step on account of WAF issues.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's sounds like you've got it. 90 is called "DTV", "Triple-Sat Installation Check", no picture or sound and a message at the bottom that says "This program is not available in your area. Check program guide for alternative programming."

100 is the PPV preview and 400 is Para Todos.

What do you get on ch 90? See my post above for the ch 90 info.

If you don't get 100, something is not right with the cables, connections, multiswitch or combiner.

Try removing the Sat C combiner and go back to 2 LNB's in the menu setting, do you get 100 now? 90 should not be there with this config.

90 is for Sat C, 100 for Sat A & 400 for Sat B.

Are you sure the Sat C combiner is correctly installed; meaning the Sat C cable is in the Sat C input & Sat B is in the Sat B input and the output is in the correct Sat B input of the multiswitch?

Do you have other short coax cables you can try?

Eric,

Yes, thanks, I am up and running. I was pointed at 119 instead of 110. The fifteenth DTV person questioned the info I had given her fourteen brothers and sisters, that I was receiving Spanish programming on 90. My stupid mistake but I wonder why each of the other DTV people thought it normal to see a Mexican priest on 90. Thanks, Art

LOL...that's nothing new. When the Sat-C was first installed and my wife told the installer to goto channel 90 to look for that message, he never heard of 90 before. He called Direct TV and they said that they don't know what's on channel 90. My wife insisted that the message was correct, but they didn't get around to adusting the DTC-100 to 3 sat configuration until I got home...sigh...it's simply too much to hope for a knowledgable tech these days.

It's sad...but I guess everyone is used to Direct TV EC's not having any real knowledge of the products they are trying to service.

I, too am having trouble getting SHO-HD. I installed the SatC kit, changed the configuration of my DTC-100 to oval/3 sat, tuned 543, and got a "searching for satellite signal" message.

I called DTV, and they led me thru several diagnostics: ParaTodos on 400 in spanish, 100 received, 999 received, 199 and 509 strong, and a few others. The supervisor (always needed) agreed with me that the LNB in the kit was defective. He arranged to have a replacement SatC kit sent out at no charge.

I installed this LNB today, and have exactly the same results! All 101 and 119 signals are coming in fine, 101 getting 90-95 on the signal meter, 119 getting 65-70, and 8, 10, and 12 (the satC transponders?) show NO SIGNAL! Ch 90 gives "searching..." message, as does 543.

DTV now says that I must have a technician come out, at a cost of $60, to "fix" the problem. Before I do that, anyone have any other ideas? I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about my setup and installation (which I did myself for the oval dish last year). TIA
