Looking for a PJ under $1000 that will be able to be bright in a room that gets high ambient light, especially at sunset. Will use for HD Tv (football), and movies. Have been looking at Optoma HD66 and Optoma Pro 360w, Pro 360 is brighter but has 16:10 native screen. Open to any suggestions and help. Thanks!

High ambient light is NEVER good for a projected image. Look at the wall where the image will during the periods of "high ambient" light. That is as dark as the image will get. A projector cannot create blacks. So all contrast will be gone and there will be NO detail in any dark or semi-dark areas. The image will be washed out and barely viewable. Add to that the fact that lamps degrade and dim as they age. So an image that was marginal when the lamp was new will be completely useless in a few hundred hours.


The light MUST be controlled to have a good image. If that were not the case, drive-in movie theaters would be open during daylight hours.


Either control your light or stick with a flat screen.
