Undocumented 3.0 quickskip enhancement?

161 Views 16 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  cwoody222
Replay guys,

I'm just wondering if the general release 3.0 is identical to the last beta 3.0 (build 17 for 2020) regarding the undocumented quickskip enhancement?

I didn't know of any such enhancement to the 2020 build 17. Care to elaborate?

Enter a number and press either instant replay or quickskip. It will go backwards or forwards that many minutes. A number followed by JUMP will go to that minute mark in the program.
Wow - that's a nice undocumented feature. Did you just violate your NDA?

Thanks for sharing.
holycrap:

I doubt it. As far as I know; we were never "told" about this... ahhh... "feature." http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket!

thanks! this is very useful... one of those things i'll use a lot.

and, just to clarify:

i just tried both, and they both work with the official 3.0 release.

extra cool, as now i can enter 2+QuickSkip to pass over the usual minimum number of comercials... oops, i mean "undesired scenes" http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

This is certainly a feature I will use all the time once I get 3.0. Thanks for posting it! QUESTION: Is there a way in 3.0 to reset the default time skip from 30 seconds to, say, 2 minutes, so that simply pressing QuickSkip (without first pressing 2) would skip over 2 minutes of "undesired scenes"? Now that would be jolly useful!

I have not seen any menus where this could be done; perhaps there's a backdoor using the CFP?

Sounds like all you would need to do the one-touch super quick skip would be to get a programmable remote which you could program to send "2" and then quickskip for one of the buttons.

I'd like to find something where I could have a variety of one-touch buttons, like the existing -7 and +30, and maybe +2:00, -30, +7, and -2:00. It sounds like this new hack is limited to just multiples of even minutes, though. Still an improvement!

BTW -- I sure wish my DVD player had a "instant replay" button. There are so many instances where I didn't quite hear what was being said and a one-touch -7 seconds button would be really nice.
I just want to give a BIG THANK YOU to the ReplayGuys for adding this feature! This feature alone makes 3.0 worth it, even before you factor in the manual recording and padding features!

Quick Skip alone makes Replay more desirable than the competition to some people, so just imagine what this'll do.

Thanks guys.

Yah, I'll second that. 3 + skip is already my favorite feature of 3.0, no doubt at all.

And here, I was afraid you guys were gonna give in to the forces of evyl and eliminate the quick skip button.

Thanks.

Hope y'all don't get into too much trouble over that.
I wish it would work in "live" mode. That is, I sometimes "pause live" and then return to a (dare I say it) 2 minute drill. I would like to 2 + skip it. Now I do the default 30 seconds. Just a wish.
Exactly, I was watching live tv and missed a segment when I walked out of the room for a commercial and came back later than I expected. I had really hoped I'd be able to use this new feature and hit 5-IR to go back in time 5 minutes, but nada, zilch, nothing http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif

Not to mention the attempts to "Qucik Skip" through some boring parts of a DVD. A 'Quickskip" in DVD mode takes me to the next chapter .... arghhh. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif

And Robman wonders why I programmed my QuickSkip and Instant Replay on Enter and PIP.... http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

When you say it doesn't work in "live" mode, does that mean it doesn't work when you're watching a delayed show from the buffer??

Yeah... And like if you are watching live tv and missed a few, it would be nice to be able to just hit 5-IR and jump back into the buffer 5 minutes.

I gave this a try; it's really cool!

Thanks Replay!
