Hello All

Could anyone please clarify this more me? I would like to know what hardware is used between the 8500 (original feet holes - 3/8 course thread) and the strut hangar. From what I gather, the threaded 3/8" is cut to length but what is connected to that?,
before again being connected to the lower unistrut.

Thank you all

Hi Mark,

There are nuts to go in the unistrut channels, and the threaded rod is screwed into the nuts. This works rather good, but be cautious that the nuts can move if the weight on them is altered.

But that still leaves me wondering about the direct connection to the pj aside from the 3/8" rod. I mean what is connected to the threaded rod and then the strut?

Thanks

Ok guys, I get evrything you are telling me. Yes JB I have those in hand , curved shaped that locks to the insides of the unistrut when tightened. I am still stumped though. Take a look at the third pic in this post

http://archive.avsforum.com/avs-vb/s...threadid=94420

In the pic one can clearly see the struts (joist mounted x3) then threaded rod with nuts and washers, then lower struts (x2), then strut hangers with nuts and washers, and then there is the item I am questioning about , finally followed by the direct connection to the pj.

Is that some sort of U shaped bracket mounted on its side? One can see it clearly between the two washers and nuts directly above the pj.

Please tell me what that part is....

Thanks

To any and all following this , I have now found the root cause of my head scratching. This is the part that has had me all
.

http://www.unistrut.com/Browse/cat_d...?S=S04&P=P2378 .

It can be bought in various lenghts. It is by the way not called strut hangers ,They are channel studs that are spring loaded to keep the thread part pushed through the openings (upward ) in the strut. Our application is obviously downwards so no need for the spring.

I now realize that the 3/8 - 16 thread stud nut will screw directly into the pj through the strut. I guess its time to run back to unistrut. Now what do I do with these self locking nuts???

Thank you Will and JB

What I did was to hang two pieces of the unistrut in parallel and FIRMLY attached them to the ceiling joists. On the Marquee, I got some flat steel and made a bracket the went from side to side on the projector with a bit hanging over. What this did, was to give the tilting necessary for any adjustments. On this bracket, I drilled two holes that matched up to the mounting holes in the marquee. Here, I had some all thread cut to length, and screw it into the unistrut then hoisted the projector and slid the all thread over my brackets... I gave myself a bit extra on the all thread and this is what gave me my adjustments for tilting...
Not the prettiest, but it was strong.

As for the unistrut nuts, I don't likethe ones with springs. Get the ones with the plastic cones on them. I got them at Lowes. Much easier to work with. The cones and springs are only there to keep the nut in place until you tighten it down.

Maybe this picture will help.

I bolted Unistrut directly to the bottom of my Marquee, then used threaded rod, 1" washers, nuts and channel nuts as required.

Nice one GE. In fact that is very helpful and I will most likely have to do the same due to ceiling height limitations. 7'8" does not leave me with too much room to maneuver. Fortunately I am a short guy and most importantly will be in the seated position whilst watching
Did you lock the connection to the pj with nuts X4 on the threaded rod?

Thanks for that titbit there JB. I will look into that and see if they are available. In fact I will go into the site and try to find it. If they do have these or something similar, I will post a link and maybe you could confirm for me.

No problem Dave!! Every little bit helps and not just for me.

Thanks Guys
