Now that's just a taste, a mere TASTE of what Universal has in its vast catalog. Whatever else is going on, Universal not having anything left to put out (as some have strangely put forth) is just not remotely true.

Thought I'd update this list to see where we are. I don't think we can expect Universal to move any faster. They seem to be running out of cool things to announce until Spielberg gets onboard.

These Universal titles are on the way in 2007 according to reports from CES and other information previously reported.

The Good Shepherd (day & date)

Children of Men (day & date)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Pride & Prejudice

Inside Man

Brazil

Conan the Barbarian

The Bourne Identity

Dawn of the Dead

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

American Pie

Bruce Almighty

Battlestar Galactica (Newest Series)

Dante's Peak

I'm sure they will start announcing major titles and will roll out day and date titles like Alpha Dog, Smoking Aces, The Hitcher, Hot Fuzz, The Kingdom, Evan Almighty, The Bourne Ultimatum etc.

Grease, by the way is Paramount. And Old School and Anchorman (Both Dreamworks, now Paramount)

Thats an impressive list no doubt (WB has a gazillion waiting in the wings as well) - the way I see it, both sides must have an ace up their sleeve if things got truly grim, or a chance presented itself to do damage to the other side, they could play it....right now things seem fine with the staggering of titles, but if need be - Universal could unleash a ton of stuff in a short amount of time - I reckon BD could do the same, or maybe they could just say "ef it, slash the hardware prices and lets see who wins!" They'd lose $$$ but people will buy, buy, buy!

how does one leave Back to the Future Trilogy off that list? Is is also fairly likely since it has been on UNIVERSAL-HD previously. I would look at what they play on that channel as being future HD DVD releases. Just an educated guess, that's all.

I want even more. Please post the entire Universal catalogue going back, say 20 years. That will give us a better idea of what might be released in the next 10 years on HD DVD.

I just wish they would hurry up and announce some dates. I'm getting tired of seeing the Blu-ray list grow and we have yet to hear anything from them. Universal needs to get on Spielburg and get some Jurassic Park and Schindler out the door!

J

Exactly. They have the second largest movie catalog behind Warner, so as long as they're committed to a format, lack of release dates given at an electronics show not withstanding, that format will do AOK.

In addition to the above post mentioning Universal's back catalog of over 5,000+ movies. They are also the parent company for the following TV Networks: NBC, NBC Sports, Bravo, USA, & the Sci-Fi channel. I'm sure LOTS of goodies are coming to the HD DVD format.

I want an SE, uncut, super version of Hard Target - the ultra-violent edition - on HD DVD! That would be awesome! I have the slightly extended Euro SD release that has more blood/cool stuff. But that current one isn't even anamorphic.

Also would like wierd **** like Undercover Brother and Time Cop.
