I have my antenna in the attic. Much of the time reception is fine, but it does drop out a fair amount. Signal strength seems to be an issue only during HD broadcasts though. It rarely drops out watching SD upconverts. Is this because the station does not broadcast as strong a signal for some reason or is it because true HD carries more info and my marginal reception can't handle it?

The type of signal being sent is the same regardless if upconverted or real HD.


Some (low budget) stations are running at lower power during non primetime hours...


Also, there can be interference from other transmissions that come and go depending on when ~they~ are broadcasting... For instance if you had an amateur radio transmitter right next door.
