Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything about the local affiliates getting their HDTV broadcasting up and running. I had heard something about this Summer a couple months ago, but nothing since. If you have any information I'd apprechiate it.

First, you probably can get some, if not all of the 7 Detroit DTV stations.


In Toledo, WNWO-DT (NBC) has been on for a few months. They are on UHF 49, remapped to 24. From the west side of the Detroit area, I can get them fine with my directional roof antenna/preamp.


WTOL-DT (CBS) has reported testing on UHF 17, see this recent post for more info:

What antenna would you reccomend for receiving the detroit stations from the toledo area. I will need an indoor antenna due to association restrictions, but I do have an attic to put it in.

Your association can not legally stop you from having an outdoor antenna. This is based on federal law. For details see: http://www.fcc.gov/csb/facts/otard.html

and do an HDTV search here at AVS for 'homeowners fcc'. You'll find a ton of info.


As far as the type of antenna, a UHF/VHF directional yagi is usually a good solution. Radio Shack has the VU-190XR, typically on sale for about $50. It's 13' long and it's what I use to get the Toledo stations.
