Looking for opinions on these options. Currently have a PS4 with the stock 500GB HD, wife got me (and by default my sons) a PSVR for Christmas. I'm enjoying the VR, not getting too seasick yet!

The kids and I have been making the choices of which games to delete from the PS4 over the last few months now that the HD is maxed out. I've had it. I'm either going to upgrade the drive to 2TB (probably a FireCuda) or the other option is get the PS4 pro, live with 1TB and sell off the standard PS4. I'm in the process of upgrading to 4k this year, right now just 1080p.

Any thoughts? Is the PS4 pro going to give a great enough increase in performance for me to really care vs. having more HDD space on my standard PS4. I'm not going to upgrade to both a PS4 and get another HD, so it's one or the other. The opinions I've read about the pro are all over the map so I thought I'd get some feedback here from some fellow AVS'ers.

Thanks in advance.

Since you have the PSVR, I'd say go for the Pro. That way you get the boost in performance for VR and double your space. Especially since you will also be upgrading to 4k in the near future. Just for the PSVR it's worth it though, over just a bump in HD space. You will still end up deleting games sometimes though. I'll probably delete the demo disks and other demos once I'm done checking them out.

Also, given the fact that you're upgrading to 4K this year, you might as well get the Pro now so you'll have that part taken care of once you get the new TV.

In fact, if you've got an extra $80, you might as well throw the Firecuda in the brand-new Pro right from the get-go. That's what I did when I got my Pro (and I haven't even upgraded to 4K yet; I got it for PSVR).

Didn't they introduce external drive support in one of the latest FW updates?
Yes, they did. I had upgraded my Pro's HDD with a 2TB Firecuda just before the firmware announcement. If I could do it all over again, I would upgrade to a small SSD instead and just transfer currently played games back and forth from the external to the SSD.

Thanks for the info, most likely I'll go the pro route. Can anyone comment on the performance improvement with the VR? I've watched videos on youtube about it, wonder what you're all seeing.

VR improvement with the Pro varies from game to game. For some games there's no difference, on others the resolution's higher or there's better lighting. It's never a game-changer - as with 2D games, they all have to run well on the base model, and if there's improvement on the Pro it's merely enhancement.

That said, I don't regret buying a Pro, even though I mainly see benefits in PSVR. I have an eight-year-old 1080p TV, and the theory was that it would be dying soon and I'd be upgrading to an HDR-capable 4K TV, but the damned thing is still going like a tank. In the mean time, when it does die, I'll be ready.
