With spring weather comes power outages so I was wondering. I have a inexpensive UPS that I had for a 2nd computer that we got rid of recently. Are there any possible negatives to using this UPS with the TV?

I know it puts out a stepped sine-wave when on so I'm wondering if this would damage the TV's powersupply. As I understand it computer power supplies are the switching type and work fine with stepped-sine wave but not sure about consumer grade RPTV's.

When I used to own DLP and LCD front projectors I used a UPS because I did not want the bulb overheating if the power went out, so this might be a good idea for you digital RPTV users too.

So, does anyone have information on the type of powersupplies commonly used in RPTV or are they just all over the board?
