okay i've had the urc-200 for a week now and have a pretty good handle on it but now it's time to take it a bit further-

my big problems is with my toshiba rp set (circa 99-2000 tw40h81?)and selecting inputs-

it's a cycle thru to the correct input and this is where guest users get lost at my house-

Is anyone hacking the 200 with jp1? i have a OFA 8910 remote and just ordered a cable in hopes of being able to get the:

TV-cable

ANT

Video1-vcr

Video2

Video3

Colorstream HD1-voom

Colorstream HD2-dvd player

individual selectable keys in the urc-200 and from there setting up the macros? can it be done?

Unfortunately older Toshiba TVs often don't have discrete input codes.

Go over to www.remotecentral.com and the "discretes" forum there, search if there are discretes for your TV.

If they aren't there, there are several strategies available:

1. Sometimes entering a channel # or channel up/down will jump straight to the TV tuner. Then your macros can send that command, then send out the right number of "input cycle" commands for the device.

2. Train guests to hit a "TVINP" type button if they aren't seeing what they want.

3. Go for something like the Harmony with the "smart state" that can supposedly handle this situation.

(JP1 the 8910 & teach to URC-200 works, the problem is likely your device doesn't support discretes to begin with)

the channel up/down does return the toshiba to the top of the input list which is the TV input and there is where part of the problem lies- esp with the mother in law- she turns the set on with the switch on the set, then starts changing channels which knocks the set off the HD1 (Voom) input and then gripes she couldn't get the tv to work blah, blah, blah-

if i macro the urc-200 to tv channel up/down, input x 2,3,4 or whatever i'm hoping that to be a work around. I've tried the input # and that didn't work. I'll poke around some more for discretes at remotecentral.

thanks
