I have this setup with my 52" Philips and a 7600GS video card.

Works fine.

It should almost always work. One potential issue is that some very old/crappy video cards may not have good support for "nonstandard" resolutions like 1366x768, or may not be able to reliably sync [email protected] But any reasonably new ATI or NVIDIA add-in card should work fine.

HTPCs also generally have issues with nonsquare pixels (ie, "720p" sets with 1024x768 panel resolution). You can't send a 1:1 signal and get the proper aspect ratio with an HDTV like that.

But in terms of interfacing DVI and HDMI -- no problem (usually). HDMI video is single-link DVI, just with a different connector and audio optionally sent along in the same cable.
