Alex, I think you are too harsh, the author, Mike Snider, does clearly state that HDTV's can be had for under $2000. I just bought my second HDTV for $813, yes it's a 27" direct view from Samsung, but it's a great little HDTV for the den.
I got home from work yesterday & my wife had brought the article home for me to read. I was very pleased that the author, Mike Snider, did a very good job of outlining the state of HDTV today. He covered most of the important aspects of hardware, reception, & current programming available & the different formats,OTA & satellite, & resolutions (1080i, 480p etc.) that HDTV & digital TV are sent in. I'm sure he sparked some curiosity in many of his readers to pursue more info about HDTV in their area. Hats off to Mitsubishi for lending the TV for the review.
