Ok so my motherboard does not have a built in modem, so I bought a Creative Blaster V.92 USB Modem (was on sale for $10) so I can use Vista Caller-ID to display caller ID information on my Vista Media Center PC.

Well, everything works as planned, BUT, when I put the computer to sleep and I get a phone call at home, it wakes up the PC :/

I've made sure that under power options, there is NO check next to "Allow this device to bring the computer out of Standby", I've also disabled "Wake On Ring" in the BIOS.


Anything I'm overlooking!?

Is it compatible with Vista, I saw up to XP. Does it have a vista driver?

yes it has vista drivers, thats the one reason i bought it.

I already have MST installed and working wonderfully on my vista machine....but does not fix the usb modem issue :/

go into device manager and go through each of your usb hubs and set the following settings


Under the power management tab check the top box.


"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

and what should be the winner for you is the next one (leave this one unchecked)

"Allow this device to wake the computer."

tried what you said above, set it all to Allow computer to turn off device...but still, when i got a phone call while in sleep, woke up the pc

i don't get what the problem is
