I think my luck is running out with my 20GB launch model.

1. YOLD

2. GPU overheating causing graphical glitches

3 and now USB ports not working anymore!!!??!?!?

1. is fixed. Did it on my own. For How long, don't know. I even bend the clamps for more pressure.

2. Got fixed (while doing Number 1), let say 95% better than it use too.

The fan takes longer to go to high speed, but eventough, my PS3 neve gets hot like before after 4 hours.

3. I realized 2 months ago that 2 of 4 usb ports weren't working properly. But never really minded.

Now none of them are working = Can't charge my controllers, can't use a flash memory and worse, I can't do a back up anymore.

I can still charge my controllers with my laptop thankfully but it is the backup that worries me.

I doubt there is a solution to it but why not ask?

So that you know I live overseas and Sony won't help me out. They could help me for the N#1.

I think your Frankenstation 3 has some issues. With all the DIY work you've already done on it, can't you just replace the USB ports?

I can't remember if the 20gb launch had the memory card readers. If it does would it be possible to use that to do backup and just get a separate controller charger? Otherwise I would just agree with Martez and try to replace the ports yourself, especially since you seem like a more than competent DIYer.

Also, probably not possible, but you could set up a media server to backup all your photos, music, and movies, just not gaming data.

Unfortunatly, the 20GB model don't have memory card readers. I guess I would find them handy now.

Will try later on to fix it. No big rush right now. I can still charge my controllers thanks to my laptop.
