I need a new projector since I am sick of the rainbows in my LT260. I have a screen about 72" wide. I also have a anamorphic lens. I will be sitting about 7-8 feet away.

I like a really bright picture. Should I get a new Sanyo and sell the anamorphic lens....or go with a used JVC? I'm leaning towards the used JVC just for grins.

Sitting 1.2 screen widths from the image should make the answer obvious. D-ILA!

Then say goodbye to rainbows, screen door, pixels, and studdery pans

Funny, my blacks on my calibrated hx1 look black.:D and a completely black( dark gray;) )screen looks about the same as my Ben-q 6100, well maybe slightly higher).

I would definitely go with the DILA for your seating distance. The picture will be fantastic. Spend the extra money to get it calibrated. Make sure you have a good source at that distance as you will start to see all the flaws of the source even with out all of the other distractions of DLP like TRYG mentioned above.

I think the PLV-70 would actually be TOO bright at that distance, if that's even possible. :) Does it have good iris control?

Wide open you're talking 109 foot-candles to a 16:9 72" wide screen with either 1.00x zoom @ 13.9' throw or 1.32x zoom @ 10.5' throw. 109!!!

That's some serious light. It seems to me that unless you are going 110" or bigger, you wouldn't be using (but would be paying for) what is arguably the best feature of the PLV-70 (and also arguably the only feature that sets it apart from other LCD projectors for far less $$$ with the same resolution and image quality).

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking at a 1.25x ratio for primary row and 1.8x for second. I want a HX1, but it's out of budget. I'm hoping I can get by with a HS20. DLP is out since the throws are too far. Well, the Infocus 7200/7205 will *just* make it but the light output at that distance is a bit lacking for my tastes.

I too would go the route of the used G10, G1000,G15( since you already have the anamorphoric lens).. just be aware and prepared for the noise of the pj's (consider a hushbox) Blacks are not the greatest; they are better on the PLV70, but still not the greatest as well.

Used G10 or equivalent would be ~$1200 with little risk of large depreciation loss and give a very good picture with the anamorphic lens as you would use all of the available lumens and resolution.
