I have PowerStrip loaded with the ATI 9600XT. On my secondary display, I have my Fujitsu P50 attached. The native resolution is 1366x768. I keep on trying to use 1368x768 PDP, through custom resolutions, however all I am able to get that sticks is 1280x768. This produces a 15:9 rather than a 16:9 picture.

I've posted in the PowerStrip forum, but didn't get a very clear response. Can anyone help me getting the desired resolution to work.

Thanks

Need some more information... do the settings ever work or does it go black screen?

Are you trying to run both monitors at the same time?

What are the steps you took?

Here is my setup:

ATI9800 PRO DVI as primary display latest drivers.

Custom inf file for monitor created in powerstrip

Sony HS10 native resolution is 1368x768

Powerstrip settings: 1368x768p=1368,56,144,216,768,1,11,23,80285,3094

Works beautifully but I have not played with getting a second display active.

Basically I created a custom resolution with the above settings. Rebooted. Created a custom inf file. Updated the driver on the plug and play monitor to the custom one. Rebooted. And then went into display properties and set the resolution to 1368x768 with the slider bar. Voila'.

Have heard of issues trying to get two displays active at the same time when the two are of vastly different resolutions.

The settings do work, however they are at 1280x768, not the desired 1368x768.

Yes, I am running both monitors at the same time. My primary is the LCD computer monitor at 1024x768. The secondary is the plasma display, which is connected to the DVI of the ATI9600XT card, through the VGA to DVI dongle, and to my plasma display as RGB. I have Extended Desktop enabled, so that I can move the cursor between primary and secondary display. That works fine.

If I open Zoom Player or Windows Media Player, I can drag them to the secondary display, and set them to full screen. The only issue I have is that the resolution is not at my display's native resolution.

In PowerStrip, I went to custom resolutions and selected 1368x768, added the new resolution, did the reboot, and then tried to move the slider to find the newly added resolution. It just simply does not show up. I'm stumped.

Did you remember to configure windows with the under-documented:

Windows Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor, then un-check "Hide modes...".

Without this, all you should get is a windows "beep" when you try to switch to the custom resolution even though that resolution was accepted as usable.

I think I have it properly configured, but will have to check when I'm back in front of the HTPC.

Thanks,

I can't help but i found exactly the same problem trying to setup 1080x864. Powerstrip accepted it and displayed it on the first 'page' of powerstip but when i checked under custom refresh it was still showing 1024*768.

You may want to try Rage 3d Tweak, it has support for 1360 x 768. It is free, just Google for it. It worked for me when Powerstrip would not. You also want to use Powerstrip to create a custom *.inf flie for your P50.

Thanks. I found the program and will try it the next time I have my HTPC fired up.

Rage 3d Tweak worked like a charm!! I created a custom .inf file for my P50 and then uninstalled Powerstrip. All is working great. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, John.

Glad I could help. I find Rage 3D Tweak easier to use than Powerstrip and its free. Beyond creating custom inf files I have had no benefit from PS.
